WARNING
Be sure that no lubricants or fluids get on tires, wheels or brakes when changing fluid. Traction can be adversely affected, which could result in loss of control of the motorcycle and death or serious injury. (00047d)
NOTICE
Do not switch lubricant brands indiscriminately because some lubricants interact chemically when mixed. Use of inferior lubricants can damage the engine. (00184a)
CAUTION
Prolonged or repeated contact with used motor oil may be harmful to skin and could cause skin cancer. Promptly wash affected areas with soap and water. (00358b)

NOTE
When replacing the engine oil, it should be carried out when the engine temperature has not fully cooled down and the vehicle is fully upright (to ensure that the motorcycle is in a horizontal plane and the body stands upright), so as to ensure that the engine oil is quickly and completely drained.
The engine oil capacity is 3.2 L (3.4 qt) and 2.9 L (3.1 qt) when replacing.
Draining Oil
1. See Unresolved graphic link. Place the oil collector under the oil drain position.
2. Remove the oil drain plug (2) and completely drain the oil from the tank.
3. Install the oil drain plug. Tighten.
Torque: 7–24 N·m (5–18 ft-lbs)
Replacing Oil Filter
1. See Unresolved graphic link. Clamp the oil filter (1) with the special tool, rotate counterclockwise and remove the oil filter.
2. Wipe the oil filter and mounting surface of the engine with clean cloth.
3. See Figure 1. Use a new oil filter of the same model, and apply a layer of lubricating oil on the o-ring.
4. Install new oil filter onto the engine manually until it can not be turned by hand. Then tighten with torque wrench.
Torque: 15–20 N·m (11–15 ft-lbs)
5. Fill the engine with engine oil until the oil reaches the upper limit mark of the oil dipstick.
Volume: 2.9 L (3.1 qt)
6. Install the oil filler cap.
7. Start engine and let idle for several minutes.
8. Turn off the engine.
9. Check oil level again to ensure level is between the L and H marks, and the engine is free of oil leakage.
NOTE
If oil splashes, wipe it clean.
Spark Plug
After the first 1,000 km (621 mi) and every subsequent 3,000 km (1,864 mi), use a small wire brush or spark plug cleaner to remove the carbon deposit on the spark plug. Using a spark plug gap feeler gauge, adjust gap to 0.7–0.8 mm (0.028–0.031 in).
NOTE
Do not over-tighten the spark plug or stagger the threads to avoid damaging the threads of the cylinder head. When removing the spark plug, do not allow impurities to enter the engine through the spark plug hole on the cylinder head.
