Good maintenance leads to a safe operating machine. A careful check of certain equipment must be made after periods of storage and frequently between the regular service intervals to determine if additional maintenance is necessary.
Check the following items:
Tires for correct pressure, excessive wear or any signs of tire damage.
Drive belt for proper tension.
Brakes, steering and throttle for responsiveness.
Brake fluid level and condition. Hydraulic lines and fittings for leaks. Also, check brake pads and discs for wear.
Throttle cables for fraying or crimping and free operation.
Engine oil level.
Engine coolant level.
Clutch fluid level.
Headlamp, tail lamp, brake lamp and directional lamp operation.
