Adjust the shock absorber preload for the total weight the motorcycle is to carry.
  1. Remove the left saddlebag.
    2. NOTE
    A preload table wallet card has been provided at the back of this manual for your convenience.
  2. See Figure 1. Rotate the knob to the desired setting for the expected load. The knob will click after each half turn. Refer to Table 1 for FLHP or Table 2 for FLHTP.
  3. Turn the knob half turns to fine-tune the ride if desired.
    4. NOTE
    • FLHP: If Tour-Pak with police equipment is added, add 4-5 turns to the chart recommendation.
    • FLHTP: Recommended settings are based on FLHTP with a standard Tour-Pak. If no Tour-Pak with police equipment is used on FLHTP, subtract 3-4 turns from the chart recommendation. When police equipment and full cargo is added to FLHTP models, add 2-3 turns to the chart recommendation.
  4. Install the left saddlebag.
