| 2. | Insert bolt through battery positive cable (+) (red) into threaded hole of battery positive (+) terminal. | |
| 3. | Tighten bolt to 6.8–7.9 N·m (60–70 in-lbs). | |
| 4. | Insert bolt through battery negative cable (-) (black) into threaded hole of battery negative (-) terminal. | |
| 5. | Tighten bolt to 6.8–7.9 N·m (60–70 in-lbs). | |
NOTICE Keep battery clean and lightly coat terminals with petroleum jelly to prevent corrosion. Failure to do so could result in damage to battery terminals. (00217a)  | ||
| 6. | Apply a light coat of petroleum jelly or corrosion-retardant material to both battery terminals. | |
| 7. | Install battery side cover. | |
| 8. | See Figure 1. Install side cover screw. Tighten to 2.26–4.52 N·m (20–40 in-lbs). | |
After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b)  | ||
