Fuses
The fuse block is below the seat and behind the battery. The block contains eight 15-amp replaceable fuses. Additional spare fuses may be carried if the rider chooses to do so.
Fuse Removal
1. On FXCWC model, lift the rear of the seat and swing seat toward fuel tank. For all other models, remove the seat. See Maintenance and Lubrication → Seats: Softail Models and follow procedure for the appropriate model.
2. See Maintenance and Lubrication → Battery: Softail Models → Battery Cover (Removal Slot Shown): FXCWC Models. On FXCWC model, lift battery cover from frame and remove.
3. See Maintenance and Lubrication → Battery: Softail Models → Frame Fairing: FLSTSB Models. On FLSTSB model, remove frame fairing.
a. Remove thumbscrew from frame fairing.
b. Lift rear of frame fairing. Raise fairing over the seat mounting pins.
c. Pull fairing to the rear and remove.
WARNING
To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a)
4. Disconnect and remove battery negative (-) cable (black) from battery negative (-) terminal.
5. See Figure 1. Pull cover off fuse block.
NOTICE
Always use replacement fuses that are of the correct type and amperage rating. Use of incorrect fuses can result in damage to electrical systems. (00222a)
6. See Figure 2. Replace suspect fuse.
Fuse Installation
1. Place cover on fuse block.
2. Install battery negative cable (black) to battery negative (-) terminal.
3. Tighten fastener to 6.8–7.9 N·m (60–70 in-lbs).
4. See Maintenance and Lubrication → Battery: Softail Models → Battery Cover (Removal Slot Shown): FXCWC Models. On FXCWC model, insert battery cover tabs into frame.
5. See Maintenance and Lubrication → Battery: Softail Models → Frame Fairing: FLSTSB Models. On FLSTSB model, install frame fairing.
a. Insert fairing tab in frame bracket at the base of the fuel tank.
b. Lower fairing holes over the seat mounting pins.
c. Hand tighten the thumbscrew.
WARNING
After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b)
6. On FXCWC model, lower seat and press down to engage locating pins. On all other models, install seat. See Maintenance and Lubrication → Seats: Softail Models and follow procedure for the appropriate model.

Main Fuse
See Figure 1 and Figure 3. The 40-amp main fuse provides main power from the battery and protects the motorcycle wiring. The main fuse is located under the seat.
To access the main fuse, pull the main fuse connector from the cavity in the left side of the fuse block cover.
