Figure 1. The ignition/headlamp key switch controls electrical functions of the motorcycle. The switch is located on the right side of the steering head.

Do not lubricate barrel locks with petroleum based lubricants or graphite. Inoperative locks may result. (00152a)

NOTE
The lamps work when the switch is in the IGNITION position, as required by law in some localities.
The key may be removed from the switch in all positions except IGNITION.

ACC* | Accessories can be turned on. Brake lamp and horn can be activated. |
IGNITION* | Ignition, lamps and accessories are on. The key cannot be removed while in IGNITION position. |
FORK LOCK | Fork is locked. Ignition, lamps and accessories are turned off. |
FORK LOCK W/ ACC* | Fork is locked. Accessories can be turned on. Brake lamp and horn can be activated. |
*International models have an additional function - position lamp and tail lamp are also on. |
