Refer to Table 1. The Apple iPod nano has been tested and certified to operate with the Premium Audio System.
While other Apple media devices may operate with the audio system, Harley-Davidson cannot guarantee the functionality or complete compatibility of devices other than the supplied iPod nano. Use of non-certified devices is done at the risk of the owner. If the audio system recognizes an Apple device, the device will automatically begin playback.
Devices which do not have a standard Apple interface can connect with the audio system via the 3.5 mm plug.
NOTE
Hard drive-based devices are not recommended for use on the motorcycle. These devices are sensitive to vibration and can become internally damaged.

May be used with the system, but not certified for use by Harley-Davidson. Start the Music application in the iPhone if using it with the motorcycle. Change the iPhone setting to airplane mode to prevent the phone from ringing through the motorcycle speakers.
iPod classic®
Strongly not recommended. Possible damage to iPod may result.
iPod shuffle®
Does not connect with the system. Not compatible for use.
