When installing a new TCU, check the date on the TCU label to verify the TCU battery will take a proper charge. A TCU installed more than a year after the manufacturer date may have a reduced battery life.

Once installed, the TCU may take up to 24 hours to operate due to charging of the TCU battery.

The TCU has to be enabled before a software update can be implemented.

When a new TCU is installed, verify the latest software is installed. Use DTII to check and update software.

When updating software, attach a lithium ion charger (minimum 5 amp) to the 12V back-up battery. The software update may disable the onboard charger. If so, the 12V backup battery may not supply enough power for the software update.
