Wheel Stand
  1. Mount wheel in a WHEEL TRUING STAND (Part Number:HD-99500-80).
    1. Install the truing arbor in the wheel hub so that the hub spins freely on its bearings.
  2. Mount a gauge rod or a dial indicator to the base of the truing stand.
Lateral Runout
  1. Check lateral wheel runout.
    1. See Figure 1. Point the gauge rod or indicator at the rim bead flange.
    2. Rotate the wheel and measure the lateral distance at several locations.
    3. Compare readings to specifications. Refer to Table 1.
    4. Replace as necessary.
Radial Runout
  1. Check radial wheel runout.
    1. See Figure 2. Point the gauge rod or indicator at the rim tire bead safety hump.
    2. Rotate the wheel and measure the lateral distance at several locations.
    3. Compare readings to specifications. Refer to Table 1.
    4. Replace as necessary.
