Removal: FXDWG Models
- See Figure 1. Remove the screw (1) and washer (2) securing the pillion (9) to the fender.
- Slide the pillion forward to release from the shoulder bolt (10).
- Remove the shoulder bolt, grabstrap and hardware.
- Slide seat toward the rear of the motorcycle and remove seat.
Installation: FXDWG Models
| 1. | Put seat on frame backbone. NOTE There is a tab at the front of the seat that slides under the rear fuel tank mount to secure seat. | |
| 2. | Slide seat toward front of motorcycle until the tab locks under the fuel tank mount. | |
| 3. | Position grabstrap with the grabstrap holes aligned with fender holes. Align with hole on mounting tab of the seat. | |
| 4. | Install shoulder bolt and washer to secure seat and grabstrap. Tighten securely. | |
| 5. | Slide pillion through grabstrap and align the slot under the pillion with the head of the shoulder bolt. | |
| 6. | Slide seat backward until firmly secured on the shoulder bolt. | |
| 7. | Install screw (1) and washer (2). Tighten securely. | |
 WARNINGAfter installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b) | ||
| 8. | Pull up on seat to verify that it is properly secured. |
Removal: All Other Models
- See Figure 1. Remove screw (1) and washer (2).
- Raise seat slightly and remove nut (7), washers (5 and 6) and bolt (4). Remove grabstrap.
- Slide seat to the rear of the motorcycle and remove.
Installation: All Other Models
| 1. | Put seat on frame backbone. NOTE There is a tab at the front of the seat that slips under the rear fuel tank mount. | |
| 2. | Slide seat toward front of motorcycle until the tab locks under the fuel tank mount. | |
| 3. | See Figure 1. Push seat forward until rear fender seat retention nut is centered in hole of mounting bracket. | |
| 4. | Install bolt (4), washers (5 and 6) and nut (7) to secure seat grabstrap. Tighten to 6.7–10.2 N·m (60–90 in-lbs). | |
| 5. | Install screw (1) and washer (2). Tighten securely. | |
