WARNINGThe automatic-on headlamp feature provides increased visibility of the rider to other motorists. Be sure headlamp is on at all times. Poor visibility of rider to other motorists can result in death or serious injury. (00030b)
Preparation
- Check tire pressure. Adjust as necessary.
- Adjust rear shocks for the rider and intended load.
- Fill fuel tank or add an equal amount of ballast.
- Park the motorcycle on a line (1) perpendicular to the wall.
- Position motorcycle with the front axle 7.6 m (25 ft) (3) from wall.
- Draw a vertical centerline (2) on the wall.
LED Headlamp
NOTE
- Choose a wall in minimum light.
- The upper bulb is low beam on the LED headlamp.
- See Figure 1. With the motorcycle loaded, point the front wheel straight forward at wall. Measure the distance (4) from the floor to center of low beam bulb.
- Draw a horizontal line (5) through the vertical line at low beam centerline.
- The headlamp is aligned when the top of light beam hot spot is at the mark with headlamp set to low beam.

Halogen Headlamp
- See Figure 2. With the motorcycle loaded, point the front wheel straight forward at wall. Measure the distance (4) from the floor to the center of the high beam bulb.
- Draw a horizontal line (5) through the vertical line at low beam centerline 53.3 mm (2.1 in) lower than high beam bulb centerline.
- The headlamp is aligned when the light beam hot spot is centered on mark with headlamp set to high beam.
