| 1. | Place vehicle on level ground. NOTE Oil level on a cold engine should never be above the midway point. | |
| 2. | See Figure 1. With motorcycle upright, check engine oil level. a. Remove filler plug/dipstick. b. Wipe off dipstick. c. Insert dipstick and tighten into fill spout. d. Remove filler plug/dipstick. e. See Figure 2. Check oil level. Correct cold check level (2) is midway between ADD (1) and FULL HOT UPRIGHT (3) marks on dipstick | |
| 3. | If oil level is at or below ADD mark, add only enough oil to bring level to ADD mark. | |
| 4. | Start and idle engine with motorcycle in upright position for two minutes. Turn off engine. | |
| 5. | Check oil level with motorcycle in upright position. Add only enough to bring level midway between the ADD (1) and FULL HOT (3) marks. |
| 1. | Ride motorcycle until engine oil reaches at least shown temperature. Temperature: 93 °C (200 °F) | |
| 2. | Allow engine to idle for 1-2 minutes in upright position. Turn off engine. | |
