1. | Install charged battery if removed. | |
2. | Clean the air cleaner filter element. | |
3. | Start the engine and run until it reaches normal operating temperature. Turn engine and ignition/headlamp key switch off. | |
4. | Check engine oil level. | |
5. | Check the clutch and brake fluid levels. | |
6. | Check controls to be sure they are operating properly. Operate the front and rear brakes, throttle control, clutch lever and gear shift lever. | |
7. | Check steering for smoothness by turning the handlebars through the full operating range. | |
WARNING Coolant mixture contains toxic chemicals, which may be fatal if swallowed. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting; call a physician immediately. Use in a well ventilated area. Irritation to skin or eyes can occur from vapors or direct contact. In case of skin or eye contact, flush thoroughly with water and go to hospital, if necessary. 8. | Check the radiator connections and coolant level through sight gauge. | |
WARNING Be sure tires are properly inflated, balanced and have adequate tread. Inspect your tires regularly and see a Buell dealer for replacements. Riding with excessively worn, unbalanced or under-inflated tires can adversely affect stability and handling, which could result in death or serious injury. (00114a) | ||
9. | Check for correct tire pressure. Incorrect tire pressure will result in poor riding characteristics and can effect handling and stability. | |
10. | Check all electrical equipment, switches, headlamp, stop lamp, turn signals and horn for proper operation. | |
NOTICE Turn engine over a few times to be sure there is no oil in the crankcase and that all oil has been pumped back into the oil tank. Stop engine and re-check oil level. Failure to do so can result in engine damage. (00071a) | ||
11. | Check for any fuel, oil, coolant or brake fluid leaks. |
