WARNING
The automatic-on headlamp feature provides increased visibility of the rider to other motorists. Be sure headlamp is on at all times. Poor visibility of rider to other motorists can result in death or serious injury. (00030b)
Check headlamp for proper alignment:
  1. Position motorcycle 7.6 m (25 ft) away from the screen or wall by measuring the distance from the front axle to the screen/wall.
  2. Verify correct front and rear tire pressure.
  3. Load vehicle with rider/passenger/cargo/accessories. Weight will compress vehicle suspension slightly. Make sure suspension is adjusted properly for the weight.
  4. See Figure 1. In a location with low light, draw a horizontal line on a screen or wall that is exactly the same height above the floor as the high beam headlamp center.
  5. Stand motorcycle upright with front fairing aimed straight forward.
  6. NOTE
Low beam lamp will stay illuminated when high beam is activated.
  7. Check headlamp alignment.
    1. See Figure 2. Set handlebar headlamp switch to HIGH beam position (2).
    2. Check that the correct pattern of light is a circular pattern and is centered on the horizontal line as shown in Figure 1.
    3. If necessary, adjust alignment of the left and right headlamp assemblies. See ADJUSTMENT which follows.
