The instrument cluster will lockout if there are 20 consecutive PIN entries that are incorrectly entered. During the lockout, the instrument cluster functions cannot be accessed and the vehicle cannot be started for a period of 30 minutes since the last failed PIN entry.

See Figure 1. When the ignition key is turned ON, the instrument cluster will display LOCKED OUT and the clock will show the remaining minutes until the lockout period ends. When the lockout ends and the key switch is turned ON, the instrument cluster will prompt the ENTER PIN message.

NOTE

The lockout procedure only occurs when entering an incorrect PIN while turning on the vehicle. Failed PIN entries made while in the Setup Menu, or incorrect PIN entries when arming the security system during the ASK period will not result in a lockout.
The 30 minute lockout period continues to countdown while the ignition key is turned OFF.
