Digital Speedometer
See Figure 1. The digital speedometer (1) displays the vehicle forward speed in miles per hour (mph) or kilometers per hour (km/h). See Controls and Indicators → Instrument Cluster Configuration for instructions to change units between mph and km/h.
Odometer
The odometer (2) displays distance traveled by the vehicle. Five different odometers can be selected. See Controls and Indicators → Odometer Functions for a detailed description of all odometer functions.
Clock
The clock (3) displays the current time. See Controls and Indicators → Instrument Cluster Configuration for instructions to set the clock or change between 12-hour and 24-hour formats.
Onboard Diagnostic Information System (ODIS)
The message area (4) along the bottom of the LCD screen has two lines of digital text. This area displays operational data, configuration menus, and messages for other various features available through the instrument cluster.
Refer to Table 1 for a number of general messages that may be displayed during vehicle operation.

MESSAGE

Introductory text displayed when ignition key is turned on.
SYSTEM VOLTAGE
Battery low voltage lamp is lit. See Controls and Indicators → Warning Lamps.
CT COLD
Flashes on the screen until the engine has reached normal operating temperature. See Controls and Indicators → Coolant Temperature.
SERVICE XXX
Service interval is due at the displayed number of

km (mi)

. This message is displayed on the first startup after the service odometer falls below 322 km (200 mi) and 1,609 km (1000 mi) thresholds.
SERVICE NOW
Service odometer has elapsed. Vehicle is due for regular maintenance (refer to Maintenance Scheduling → Regular Service Intervals: Buell Models → Regular Service Intervals: 2009 Buell 1125 Models). This message is displayed on each startup until service counter is reset. See Controls and Indicators → Instrument Cluster Configuration to reset the service counter after maintenance has been completed.
SIDE STAND (HDI models)
The sidestand is not in the fully retracted position. On HDI models, the vehicle shuts off power to the ignition and fuel pump when the sidestand is down while the vehicle is in gear and the clutch is released.
TIPPED KEY OFF
The bank angle sensor has been tripped. The vehicle shuts off power to the ignition and fuel pump when the tip angle is greater than a predetermined limit. The four way flashers also flash while vehicle is on its side. Turn the key switch to OFF, stand vehicle upright, and restart the motorcycle.
ENTER PIN
Displayed when the ignition is first turned on while the security system is armed. See Controls and Indicators → SECURITY SYSTEM.
THEFT ERROR
A problem has been detected with the security system or serial communication has been lost. See a Buell dealer for service. See Controls and Indicators → SECURITY SYSTEM.
LOCKED OUT
Twenty consecutive PIN entry failures have been made, causing the instrument cluster to lock out for 30 minutes. A count down timer is displayed to show the number of remaining minutes until the PIN can be re-entered. See Controls and Indicators → SECURITY SYSTEM.
COMM ERROR
A communications error has occurred. The instrument cluster has failed to receive messages from the ECM. If problem persists, see a Buell dealer for service.
NOTE: When the COMM ERROR message is displayed on the LCD screen, turning the key switch to OFF then back to ON will change the displayed message to THEFT ERROR.
