The security system may be configured in three different theft modes. See Controls and Indicators → Instrument Cluster Configuration to choose the theft mode.
Theft Mode On
The security system automatically arms itself each time the vehicle is turned off. The instrument cluster functions cannot be accessed and the vehicle cannot be started until the appropriate four-digit PIN is entered. While the vehicle is turned off, the theft mode indicator periodically flashes to show that the security system is armed.
Theft Mode Off
The security system remains disarmed when the vehicle is turned off.
Theft Mode Ask
The rider is given an opportunity to arm the security system each time the vehicle is turned off. When the key switch is turned to OFF, the LCD screen displays ENTER PIN along with a countdown timer.
If the correct PIN is entered, the security system will arm. The instrument cluster functions cannot be accessed and the vehicle cannot be started until the appropriate four-digit PIN is entered again to disarm the system. The theft mode indicator periodically flashes to indicate that the system is armed.
If the rider does not begin entering a PIN within 4 minutes after turning the key switch to OFF, the instrument cluster will shutdown and the security system will remain disarmed.
