| 1. | Stand motorcycle upright (not leaning on jiffy stand) on a level surface. See Maintenance → GENERAL. | |
| 2. | Remove top cover. See Chassis → TOP COVER. | |
| 3. | Remove rear cover. See Chassis → REAR COVER. | |
| 4. | Deactivate electrical system. See Electrical → POWER DISCONNECT. | |
| 5. | Install special tool. Special Tool: RESS REPLACEMENT KIT (HD-52734) a. Remove skid plate. See Electric Vehicle Powertrain (EVPT) → SKID PLATE. b. Install special baseplate. c. Install screws. Tighten. d. Support powertrain with Fat Jack. Special Tool: FAT JACK (HD-45968) | |
| 6. | Remove right side covers (upper, middle, lower). See Chassis → SIDE COVERS. | |
| 7. | Remove tail section. See Chassis → TAIL SECTION. | |
| 8. | Remove power receptacle bracket. See High-Voltage System → POWER RECEPTACLE (VEHICLE INLET). | |
| 9. | Detach right footrest. See Chassis → RIDER FOOTRESTS. | |
| 10. | Remove primary cover. See Electric Vehicle Powertrain (EVPT) → PRIMARY COVER. | |
| 11. | Remove left footrest. See Chassis → RIDER FOOTRESTS. | |
| 12. | Remove and position pivot shaft. See Chassis → REAR FORK. a. Loosen rear fork pivot shaft until threads are free from mating piece. b. Use special tool to push pivot shaft half way out. Special Tool: TRANSMISSION SHAFT ALIGNMENT GUIDE (HD-52735) | |
| 13. | Detach right frame. See Chassis → FRAME. a. Remove steering head nuts. b. Loosen the two steering head short screws. c. Loosen the three frame screws. d. Move frame away to gain access to AC filter. |
