REGENERATIVE BRAKING

Roll-Forward regen feature available If the motorcycle has software bundle 10.1.9 with Instrument Module software 5.146.730_20250523 or later versions installed.
Refer to Operation → Reverse Operation → Reverse. Regenerative braking captures energy which applies braking to the rear wheel in the process. Regenerative braking works in two ways.
COAST-DOWN REGEN: When the throttle twist grip is released, regenerative braking is automatically applied. This resembles the feel of internal combustion engine braking. The amount of regenerative braking depends on the vehicle ride mode.
ROLL-FWRD REGEN: When the throttle twist grip is rolled forward past the zero/neutral position while the vehicle is in motion, it may be enabled to apply additional regenerative braking. This allows the rider to actively command maximum regenerative power in any ride mode.
NOTE
  • This motorcycle automatically illuminates the brake taillights when a threshold of regenerative braking is applied. This notifies other vehicles that the bike is decelerating.
  • The amount of regenerative braking available depends on the State of Charge (SOC) and temperature of the battery. It may be limited when the battery is cold, or if the SOC is too high. It is also not available when the powertrain is disabled.
  • Regenerative braking is not a replacement for the vehicle’s friction brakes. Always cover the brake levers and be prepared to apply.
ROLL-FORWARD REGEN OPERATION: This feature increases the amount of regenerative braking to maximum when the twist grip is rolled-forward past the zero/neutral position while the vehicle is in motion.
ROLL-FORWARD REGEN is made available via an "opt-In" selection in the vehicle settings under the Ride Customization menu on the instrument. This "opt-in" option is not available while the vehicle is in a propulsion enabled state, selection must be made prior to operation of the vehicle.
To engage roll-forward regen, vehicle must be in motion then roll the twist grip forward past the zero/neutral position. This will smoothly apply the vehicle maximum regenerative braking to the rear wheel.
Return the twist grip to its neutral position to disengage roll-forward regen and the ride mode appropriate coast-down regen will be applied if the motorcycle is still in motion.
