| 1. | Support motorcycle upright to remove pressure on front suspension. See Maintenance → GENERAL. | |
| 2. | Remove top cover. See Chassis → TOP COVER. | |
| 3. | Deactivate electrical system. See Electrical → POWER DISCONNECT. | |
| 4. | Remove fairing. See Chassis → FAIRING. | |
| 5. | Remove two upper headlamp bracket screws. See Electrical → HEADLAMP. | |
| 6. | Remove upper handlebar clamp. See Chassis → HANDLEBAR. | |
| 7. | Move handlebar to front of forks. Secure in place with bungee cords. | |
| 8. | Loosen steer stem screw and upper fork bracket pinch screws. See Chassis → STEERING HEAD. | |
| 9. | Raise front of motorcycle enough to allow fork assembly to lower. Length/Dimension/Distance: 12.7 mm (0.5 in) |
