Removal
NOTE
Remove seat from right side of motorcycle.
1. If equipped, remove rider backrest. Refer to Operation → RIDER BACKREST.
2. Remove seat strap.
a. Open right saddlebag lid. Refer to Operation → SADDLEBAGS.
b. See Figure 1. Remove seat strap screw (3).
c. Pull seat strap (1) through slot in seat strap bracket (2).
3. Open Tour-Pak to move passenger seat upper backrest out of the way. Refer to Operation → TOUR-PAK.

NOTE
Be careful of wiring connected to heated lower backrest.
See Figure 2. Separate passenger lower backrest from Tour-Pak.
a. Place fingers above pins (3) and pull forward on lower backrest to separate from grommets (4).
b. Lift to separate tab (1) from slot (2).
c. Rest lower backrest on passenger seat.
5. Remove screw securing rear of seat.

NOTE
To protect Tour-Pak finish, cover rear seat mounting bracket with palm of hand.
See Figure 4. While pushing seat forward, raise rear of seat until bracket clears top of Tour-Pak. Push seat rearward slightly to free seat from tongue on rear fuel tank bracket.
7. See Figure 6. Push tab (1) on retainer to open. Press latch (2) on connector (3) to disconnect heated seat.
Installation
NOTE
See Figure 3. Verify correct wire routing of heated lower passenger backrest.
1. Place seat on frame backbone.
2. See Figure 6. Connect heated seat connector (3). Push together until a click is heard. Place wiring in retainer (1) as shown. Close retainer.

NOTE
To protect finish of Tour-Pak, cover rear seat mounting bracket with palm of hand.
See Figure 5. While raising rear of seat approximately 76.2mm (3 in), use other hand to firmly push front of seat downward and forward until tongue engages slot in seat.
4. Push seat rearward until seat retention nut is centered in hole of mounting bracket.
5. Install seat mounting screw. Tighten.
Torque: 5–6.2 N·m (44–55 in-lbs) Seat mounting screw
6. Pull up on the front and rear of seat to verify that it is properly secured.
7. See Figure 2. Reconnect passenger lower backrest to Tour-Pak.
a. Lubricate grommets with windshield cleaner, 50/50 isopropyl alcohol mixture or soapy water.
b. Place lower tab (1) into slot (2).
c. Press on lower backrest in front of pins (3) until pins are fully inserted in grommets (4).
8. Close Tour-Pak lid. Refer to Operation → TOUR-PAK.
9. See Figure 1. Install end of seat strap (1) in slot of seat strap bracket (2). Install seat strap screw (3). Tighten.
Torque: 5–6.2 N·m (44–55 in-lbs) Seat strap screw
10. If removed, install rider backrest. Refer to Operation → RIDER BACKREST.
